Dr. Doug
Hayter, Superintendent of the Branson R-IV School District has been
selected by the Missouri Association of School Administrators as
the recipient of the annual Robert L. Pearce Award for 2009. Hayter
was selected by a committee of his peers. Each of the eight MASA
districts nominated a superintendent for the award.
The Pearce award includes a $500 cash award to the recipient and a
$500 scholarship for a student in the district of the award
winner.
Hayter has been employed by the Branson R-IV School District as
Superintendent of Schools since July, 2003. Previously, he served
as Superintendent of Schools at Logan-Rogersville Public Schools
and as a secondary principal at Sparta Public Schools.
Hayter received his bachelor's, master's and specialist degrees
from Southwest Missouri State University. He received his doctorate
from the University of Arkansas.
Under Hayter's leadership, the school district has passed two tax
issues, one to provide needed instructional space for an
ever-expanding student body, and the second to provide funds for
additional teachers and salary increases. These results and other
curricular improvements have all been part of a detailed,
collaborative revised Ten-Year Master Plan for the school district.
The district has been recognized the past four years as a district
exemplifying "Distinction in Performance".
Hayter is a past president of the MASA and the Southwest
Administrators Association. He has been active in many church and
community organizations including the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of
Commerce, the Skaggs Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, the
Branson/Hollister Rotary Club, and the White River Electric
Operation Round-Up Board.
Hayter is the twenty-third recipient of the prestigious Robert L.
Pearce Award.
