by Roger Kurtz

The annual MASA/MOSPRA Spring Conference is scheduled for March 21-23 (Sunday/Monday/Tuesday) at the Lodge of Four Seasons.  The conference will focus on five main topics: school finance, legal issues, public relations, legislative issues and curriculum issues.  Again this year, members of the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSRPA) will join MASA at the conference.   Click here for full conference program in printable format.

The MASA Program committee has scheduled a special program on Sunday afternoon for individuals who have entered the superintendency in the past five years.  This program will feature presentations from current practitioners and will cover a variety of topics.  The exhibit hall will  be open on Sunday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m. and again on Monday morning.

An Aspiring Superintendents workshop is scheduled for Sunday, March 21 beginning at 9:00 a.m.  This is an excellent session for anyone considering entering the superintendency.  A separate registration is required for this session and more information and a registration form is available at this website:  http://www.mcsa.org/outreach/aspsupinfo.htm.

Hall Davidson will be the keynote speaker at the Monday luncheon.  His presentation is titled, "Taking Leadership in the Digital Age - Linking Engagement, Assessment & Achievement".  Davidson taught middle school and high school English, mathematics, Spanish and bilingual mathematics.  He left the classroom to teach math on television in Los Angeles on an Emmy-winning program and spent 20 years at PBS stations teaching and leading staff developments in person and on-air.  He joined Discovery Education in 2005 and has spoken about technology and education to audiences around the world.  His appearance at the conference is made possible by Discovery Education.

The program contains an excellent mix of educational information, the opportunity for collegial exchange and social interaction.
