Overview:

This year-long support program for first-year superintendents will provide a variety of learning opportunities, while also providing a network to enhance your performance as a district leader.  Invoices for any of these components will not be sent until after July 1, 2019.

The MASA First-Year Superintendent Support Program consists of three major components:

  1. MASA First-Year Superintendent Leadership Workshop and Dinner (No cost)

This workshop and dinner, held at the MCSA Education & Conference Center in Jefferson City the day before the DESE New Superintendent’s workshop in June, is the first opportunity for all first-year superintendents across the state to network while learning from some of the best district leaders in Missouri.  This event is scheduled for June 9, 2019.

  1. MASA Administrator Mentoring Program (AMP) (Cost = $300)

The MASA Mentoring Committee will pair first-year, K-12 superintendents with a mentor for the school year. This program includes 10 hours of face-to-face contact with your mentor.  As part of the process to upgrade your initial certification, this program fulfills the mentoring requirement for DESE.  New K-8 superintendents may choose to participate in this program; however, if you have never served as a principal, you should access a mentor through DESE’s K-8 Principal/Superintendent mentoring program.
