LDS: Enrollment, Residency, Homelessness & Custody: Who’s the Parent? Where Do They Live? Where Can They Go to School? (Tueth Keeney)
This session will review Missouri residency and school enrollment laws as well as custody and guardianship issues to help you identify who can enroll a child in a district school and when. We will also review the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Education Act and discuss school districts’ obligations for serving students who are experiencing homelessness. The session will identify common legal pitfalls and provide specific guidance for ensuring compliance with both state and federal laws related to school residency and enrollment issues.
