When Workers Can’t Work: Solving the FMLA/ADA/Workers’ Compensation Puzzle

What can a school district do when an employee is no longer physically or mentally able to work?  A wrong answer to this question can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Although most districts are familiar with the FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Comp, the inter-action between these statutes often creates confusion and hidden traps. Focus On Section 504:  How to Stay in Compliance During Changing Times

Strategic Planning for School Districts

Whether you need insights on how to build a broad strategic plan, your district’s CSIP, or developing a plan for a key bond issue, this session will provide participants with strategies to be strategic. This is a workshop session, so districts are encourage to send multi-ple key members who are charged with developing plans (there will be some hands-on work during the session). Hear from experts on using research to guide the planning as well as MASA members and staff who have successfully developed plans for their own districts.

Understanding Your APR; ESSA; Federal programs

School leaders recognize the importance of understanding their district’s Annual Performance Report (APR) as well as the impact of the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This session will provide participants guidance and training as they use the APR for improvement planning, as well as an overview of the impact and changes of ESSA and other Federal programs.
