School Finance Seminars Scheduled

MASA and MOASBO will once again jointly sponsor three school finance workshops for school administrators and others responsible for district finances. The series of workshops has been designed primarily for individuals who are newly employed in their roles, however, in the past, veterans have also found the information presented in these workshops to be extremely valuable.

The first workshop will focus on "Setting the Tax Rate" This session will be offered on July 28 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia at 11:00 am which is at the conclusion of the DESE conference. You do not have to be registered for the DESE conference to attend this seminar. We are providing this seminar at the conclusion of the DESE conference to reduce travel at a busy time for school administrators. Chris Straub will be the presenter at this session.

The other two school finance workshops will be held at the Missouri Council of School Administrators Education Center in Jefferson City. Each workshop will begin at 11:30 am and will conclude by 3:00 pm. Workshop dates for "Evaluating the Budget" are November 11 or 12; and workshop dates for "Budget Development" are March 16 or 17.

The registration fee is $60/person for each session or all three sessions for $150. The registration fee includes all workshop handouts and lunch sponsored by OPAA! Food Management and American Fidelity Assurance.

The "Setting the Tax Rate" workshop will be videotaped and available for viewing after the session. The other two workshops will be available live on the internet and all are free for those subscribed to the MASA Online Video Library.
