The Missouri Superintendent Academy is a powerful year-long experience designed to sharpen leadership skills, expand professional networks, and deepen the impact of Missouri superintendents in their early years.

Whether you’re in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year as a superintendent—or new to the role in Missouri—this Academy equips you with the tools, insights, and relationships essential for long-term success.

A Collaborative Initiative

The Academy is a collaborative initiative between the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA), and Saint Louis University’s Department of Educational Leadership and Higher Education.

This experience combines research-based leadership development with real-world, peer-centered support.

What to Expect

Three Powerful Retreats

Each retreat spans 1.5 days and features national and statewide leaders sharing strategies, stories, and actionable insights. Sessions blend expert-led learning, practical tools, and deep peer collaboration.

One-on-One Coaching (Optional)

Participants may be paired with a veteran superintendent coach to provide personal support throughout the year. Coaches help sharpen goals, guide reflection, and offer encouragement in real time.

Cost & Support

MASA generously subsidizes a portion of the program cost. Participating districts contribute $1,500, which covers all Academy expenses—including lodging, meals, and materials. Limited scholarships are available for districts with financial need.
