MASA was excited to welcome the 2025–26 Aspiring Superintendent Cohort to Jefferson City on June 25–26. Nearly 30 rising school leaders from across Missouri gathered at the Gary D.

Sharpe Education Center for two days of intensive leadership development, networking, and professional learning, marking an important step in their educational careers.

Focused Learning and Professional Development

The cohort participants engaged in a range of key topics designed to equip them for future leadership roles. Sessions covered crucial subjects such as school finance, ethics, advocacy, and board relations—essential areas for effective school leadership.

The opportunity to delve into these topics provided valuable insights and practical knowledge that will support them as they navigate the challenges of superintendency.

Keynote Dinner with Dr. Mark Penny

A highlight of the event was the keynote dinner with incoming MASA Executive Director, Dr. Mark Penny. His address offered a vision for the future of MASA and Missouri’s educational leadership, inspiring the next generation of superintendents with his insights on leadership, collaboration, and the importance of advocacy for public education.

Preparing Future Superintendents
