MASA is sponsoring a series of workshops to provide assistance and support primarily for individuals who are new to the superintendency, however veteran superintendents may also find the information valuable as well.  The program is called the "Superintendent Success Program" and is an extension of the school finance seminars that MASA has offered in cooperation with MOASBO for many years.

The workshops will be led by individuals with expertise in the subject matter being presented.  The first four workshops will be held in Jefferson City and each will begin at 10:00 am and conclude by 4:00 pm.  The fifth session will be held at the Lodge of Four Seasons immediately preceding the MASA Spring Conference.  The same program will be presented on two different days and the sessions will also be available live on the Internet for those unable to make the drive to Jefferson City.

The first session will be on October 10 or October 11 and will focus on student performance data and MSIP 5.  Becky Odneal owner of Education Link and an Educational Success Consultant will be the main presenter.  She will discuss issues such as potential policy issues with data; data collection and reporting procedures; processes and policies; interpreting data in your district; timelines for new assessments and MSIP 5.  She will be joined on October 10 by Mary Beth Scherer, Superintendent of the Concordia R-II School District who will share how she uses and shares data in her school district.  David Tramel, Superintendent at New Bloomfield will join her on October 11 to share how he uses and shares data within his district.

On November 13 or November 14, the focus of the workshop will be on school governance.  This session will focus on superintendent/school board relations, board meeting agendas, school district planning, superintendent evaluations and school district program evaluation.

On December 11 or 12, the workshop will focus on human resources.  This session will include a discussion of staff evaluations, contract issues, HR practices and employment law.

On January 22 or 23, the workshop will focus on business practices that will include bid policies, reports, bonds, health insurance bids, depository bids, school district investments and other business practices.

The final session is scheduled for  March 20 at the Lodge of Four Seasons and will include a focus on successful school public relations for administrators.

Each of the sessions will cost $60 to attend and includes lunch and all handouts.  By registering for the entire series, attendees can save $40.
