Budgeting For 2013-14 Workshop
MASA and MOASBO will jointly sponsor a school finance workshop for school administrators and others responsible for district finances on "Budgeting for the 2013-2014 School Year on February 28 and then repeated on March 1 in Jefferson City. This workshop will provide assistance to school administrators as they begin the process of developing a budget for 2013-2014. The focus of the session will be on identifying key areas of concern, estimating revenues and expenses, and a general discussion of budgeting basics. The Governor's budget recommendations for education will be reviewed. The workshops are designed primarily for individuals who are newly employed in their roles, however, veterans may also find the review and information valuable.
Chris Straub, MASA school finance consultant and retired superintendent from the Jefferson City School District, will lead the workshops. Linda Quinley, Director of Business Services for the Columbia School District will be co-presenting with Straub. All workshops will be held at the Missouri Council of School Administrators Education Center in Jefferson City. Each workshop will begin at 11:30 am and will conclude by 3:00 pm. The registration fee is $40/person for each session. The registration fee includes lunch and all workshop handouts.
The February 28 luncheon is being sponsored by OPAA! Food Management and the March 1 luncheon is being sponsored by American Fidelity Assurance. One-time online registration is available and online participation is free to school districts enrolled in the MASA Video Library. If your district is a member of the MASA Video Library, please complete the registration form so that MCSA will have an adequate bandwidth for those participating. Online participants will be provided handouts and will be able to ask questions during the live portion of the program.
