MASA Announces New Director of Communications

The Missouri Association of School Administrators is pleased to announce Marci (Minor) Orr will be the next Director of Communications. Mrs. Orr has more than seven years of school communications experience and has been in public education for 18 years. Mrs. Orr served as the first communications director at Hallsville, and she later took a similar position with the Mexico 59 School District. Mrs. Orr also worked with the school law firm, EdCounsel LLC, as their Director of Communications.

Mrs. Orr has a Master’s Degree in Teaching and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. She actively serves in the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) as a member and presenter, past state board officer, and 2020 State Award winner for work in school PR. Mrs. Orr also volunteers as a board member in the Mexico 59 School District and serves as president of Bright Futures - Mexico.

Doug Hayter, Executive Director, stated, “Mrs. Orr has an excellent reputation with those in school communications and she is a trusted resource to superintendents in the central Missouri region. Her work with MOSPRA, along with her background and experiences, make her the right candidate at the right time for our association. I am confident that she will be a great asset for MASA moving forward.”

Mrs. Orr shared, “As someone who has been deeply connected and involved in Missouri education for two decades, I am honored to join the MASA team to lead, develop, and support school administrators. The stress on educators today is real and challenging. It is especially important for our association to continue assisting in the development and support of transparent and consistent school communications. When we support our leaders, we support our students.”

Mrs. Orr will begin work for MASA on October 4, 2021. During the next month she will work with outgoing Communications Director, David Luther. She will immediately take the lead on most communications duties including the MASA Monday Memo, the quarterly Spotlight publication, MASA’s social media, coordination of several multi-association collaborations, and the association’s day-to-day operations of communications, public relations and marketing.

Marci Orr may be reached at Marci.Orr@MCSA.org or by phone at 573-638-4825.
